There are very few details to help illuminate the life of Aaron Rodriguez Rivera. He was a Sephardic Jew, descended from an illustrious line, and connected to those who had formed an elite class of shippers and merchants in eighteenth-century Newport. He was the oldest son of Abraham Rivera of New York and the grandson of Jacob. He lived for some time in Wilmington, North Carolina.
