Henrietta Levy and her sister Martha were the daughters of MaryPearce and Judge Moses Levy.Their father was a very successful judge and lawyer, and the girlsgrew up in the highest rungs of Philadelphia’s Protestant elite.Although they were the great granddaughters of MosesLevy, a founder of American Jewry, this branch of the Levyfamily had been Episcopalian for several generations.
