The daughter of Samuel Levy and his wife Sarah Moses Levy, Eliza’s birthplace and date of birth are unrecorded. It is known that she was raised in Camden, South Carolina, along with her brother Chapman, who became a well-known South Carolina lawyer. She married Dr. Edward H. Anderson of Camden, a close friend of her brother’s, but it is unknown whether they had children together. She died before 1839, and Chapman named two ill-fated daughters after this beloved sister, Eliza Henrietta, who died in infancy, and Flora Eliza, who lived to adulthood and married Thomas Salmond Anderson, but died shortly thereafter without having had any children.
