There are very few details to help illuminate the life of Aaron Rodriguez Rivera. He was a Sephardic Jew, descended from an illustrious line, and connected to those who had formed an elite class of shippers and merchants in eighteenth-century Newport. He was the oldest son of Abraham Rivera of New York and the grandson of Jacob Rodriguez de Rivera and Aaron Lopez. He lived for some time in Wilmington, North Carolina.
