Abraham married Fanny Rindskopf, who was also in immigrant from Bavaria, Germany. Together, he and Fanny had five children, Samuel, Joseph, Harriet, Theresa, and Bella. The Aubs were very active in the Jewish community of Cincinnati and were generous philanthropists in its behalf. While Abraham was in the wholesale clothing business, he also taught at the Jewish school that was affiliated with Congregation Bene Yeshurun, which is today’s Wise Temple on Plum Street. In fact, the Aubs made significant gifts to the building campaign for Plum Street Temple and Abraham played a large part in bringing Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise to Cincinnati from Albany, New York. The Aubs were founders of and donated the land for Cincinnati’s Jewish Hospital in 1865, the first Jewish hospital in the US. Abraham served as the President of the Jewish Hospital Association from 1855 to 1875. Aub died in Cincinnati in 1879 at the age of 66.
