Isaac Marks was born in New York in 1732. He served in the New York Militia during the Revolutionary War and married Miriam Simpson of Long Island. Their son Samuel Mandel moved to Charleston. A granddaughter, Deborah, married the hazzan of Beth Elohim, Hartwig Cohen.
