Miriam Marks was the oldest of three children to Levy Marks andRachel Solomon. Her father was an English-born tailor who had settledin Philadelphia, where he was active with Congregation Mikveh Israeland enjoyed an intimate friendship with MichaelGratz; her mother was the child of Bilhah Myers-Cohen andJoseph Solomon. In 1782 she marriedRevolutionary War hero Major Benjamin Nones.They made their home in Philadelphia and Miriam bore thirteenchildren, including Abraham B. Nones.
